If you need more detailed information, or you're not comfortable applying or appealing online, your best bet is to call the local office. Again, for some reason, the government does not put this information in one convenient place. Luckily, I did. All Arizona offices are listed on this website. The local office can give you status on your case, help you file your application, tell you if you are receiving the correct amount of benefits and basically do anything specific that you need to do.
If you need a replacement Social Security card, you need a different office than your local office. In Arizona, the local office is the downtown Phoenix Office at 250 N Seventh Street. In Tucson, it's the downtown office at 3808 N 1st Street.
Social Security also provides translators into several different languages so don't be concerned in you don't speak English. They also provide TTY service if you are deaf or hard of hearing at 1-800-325-0778.
Once you've applied for disability benefits and your case is being processed, you're not going to find out much from talking to the local office. If you got forms in the mail, need to update Social Security on new medical information for you or need to confirm a consultative exam that has been made for you - you need to contact Disability Determination Services. They are the state agency that actually makes the decision on your disability case. In Arizona, we have two offices - one in Phoenix and one in Tucson. Sometimes they get overloaded and cases are also sent to Oklahoma and Arkansas. This is nothing to worry about. The phone numbers to check on your case with Disability Determination Services are found here. If you call the wrong office, they can tell you where your case is.
If your case is waiting for a hearing, you need to contact the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review. We have three hearing offices in Arizona - North Phoenix, Downtown Phoenix and Tucson. The contact information is here.
Again, if you're not sure where your case is at, just call the local office. If you have any further questions, please contact The Foster Law Firm at (480)621-7231 or toll-free (844)303-0735.
